How the treatment works
Colonic, also called colon hydrotherapy, uses warm water delivered and released to gently cleanse the large intestine. At Emerald Ivory the session begins with a short consultation so the practitioner can explain the process, answer questions, and confirm comfort. The method focuses on controlled water flow and client privacy rather than forceful manipulation.
The treatment is offered on our Detox & Wellness menu alongside services such as the Sauna Detox Blanket & Body Wrap. Clients typically consider colonics one component of a broader self-care routine; the practitioner’s role is to guide the session and adapt pacing to individual comfort and responses.
What to expect during session
A Colonic appointment lasts 50 MINUTES and takes place in a private room where the practitioner remains nearby to monitor comfort and answer questions. During the session people commonly feel mild abdominal movement or warmth as water flows; the practitioner adjusts the pace to maintain client comfort throughout the procedure.
Many Lake View clients schedule appointments to fit busy work and transit schedules—before work, during lunch, after work, or on weekends—thanks to convenient access to Belmont CTA and nearby bus routes. Some clients combine a colonic with other services or local activities, such as shopping on Southport Corridor or visiting the Lakefront Trail.
Preparing and aftercare guidelines
Plan for the full appointment time and arrive a few minutes early so the practitioner can review your intake information and answer final questions. Wear comfortable, easily removable clothing; bring any questions about the session. If you’re unsure whether a colonic is right for you, our team is happy to talk it through before your appointment.
After the session the practitioner will review how you felt and offer basic aftercare guidance. Clients are usually advised to rest briefly and hydrate. Because individual responses vary, follow-up decisions—timing of future sessions or combining services—are made with your preferences and practitioner input rather than fixed guarantees.
